Final Project

For my final project, I chose to write biographies about infamous killers that I did extensive research on. I have been passionate about true crime for as long as I can remember and have spent endless hours reading about killers, so I thought it would be interesting to write about them in my own words.

Dean Corll
Dean Corll was an American serial killer born on December 24th, 1939 in Wayne, Indiana. His killings started when he turned 31, and in the course of 3 years at least 28ᐩ victims had been killed at his hands. Seemingly a normal child with adequate grades, no one would have expected Dean to have turned out the way he did. His mother had custody of him through a series of divorces causing him to end up in Houston, Texas where the rape and killings occurred. Unfortunately, Corll was never caugh for his crimes until after his death. In an attempt to rape and murder two of his accomplices, Elmer Wayne Henley and David Brooks, Henley talked his way out of the restraints and shot Corll, later confessing to the police about all of Corll's brutal crimes and his involvement.

Ted Bundy
Theodore Bundy was born on November 24th, 1946 in Burlington, Vermont. He would kidnap, murder, rape his victims before and after their deaths. From the ages 24 to 28, Theodore assaulted more than 30 women. As a child, people knew he was odd and parental guidance was scarce for him. When he was a three years old, he surrounded his aunt with knives while she slept in her bed. When she woke up, he was standing over her smiling. On June 30, he was sentenced to serve to fifteen years in the Utah State Prison for being charged with kidnapping and assault on two of his victims. Later was charged with murder and was sentenced to death. In 1989 Bundy confessed to everything and died in the electric chair.

John Wayne Gacy Jr.
John Wayne was born on March 17th, 1942 in Chicago, illinois. He would rape, torture and kill young boys and men from the time he was 30 to 38. As a child, gacy himself was beaten by his father many times and sexually assaulted by one of his father's friends. Gacy got married and divorced twice and had two children. After the police found various body parts in John Wayne's home he knew arrest was inevitable and confessed to everything. While waiting for his conviction, Wayne started to paint. He would sell them for 200 to 20,000 dollars. He claimed that his paintings were meant to bring joy to others. He made a lot of money, but after a long trial John was sentenced to death by lethal injection. His last words were, "kiss my ass."

Dennis Rader
Dennis Rader was born on March 9th, 1945 in Pittsburg, Kansas. He made a name for himself as the BTK strangler which stood for bind, torture, kill. Not much is written about Rader’s early childhood, but he was the oldest of four boys. Dennis had various jobs growing up such as a bookkeeper for his mothers supermarket and an assembler for a security service where he set up house alarms etc. He was married and had two children who he never saw again after his conviction. By 2007, he was charged with 10 murders and convicted. At his sentencing, he attempted to "apologize" for his killings and to his family in a thirty minute long speech which he ripped off from an Academy Award acceptance speech. He is still alive at 73 years old and is kept in solitary confinement at the El Dorado Correctional Facility in Kansas.

Charles Manson
Charles Manson was born on November 12th, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Manson was a cult leader, criminal and singer/songwriter. He was born to a sixteen year old single mother and was mostly raised by his aunt and uncle after his mother was arrested for robbery. At age 15 he ran away to Indianapolis and supported himself through robbing stores. Eventually being caught, he was transferred to Natural Bridge Honors Camp with minimum security on a psychiatrists recommendation. In his life he committed many petty crimes until he escalated to murder. He and his satanic cult murdered Sharon Tate, a beautiful woman and actress who was eight months pregnant and everyone in her home. By 1971, he was charged with seven counts of murder.
